Development Support Engineer (Cambridge)
The Development Support Engineer will report directly to the Support Section Leader.
As Development Support Engineer you will be required to liaise with other developers and operational staff. The Development Support Engineer is the first point of contact for internal and external customers requiring support on ACIS products.
The Development Support Engineer will take 1st/2nd line responsibility for a series of products and components, ensuring revision release of these products and components are achieved within SLA?s.
As Development Support Engineer you will take ownership and have complete responsibility for development faults. You will be required to provide technical support via telephone, email and remote control software, as well as responsibility for recording these faults accurately with fault analysis. The Development Support Engineer will provide support of in house software and hardware by providing training and advice. You will also be required to replicate faults within the development environment.
The Development Support Engineer will desirably be educated to HND level in engineering, computer science or electronics, or other relevant discipline. As Development Support Engineer you will be technically competent in at least one of the following XML, .NET, JAVA, HTML and ASP, along with word, excel and outlook. Knowledge of SQL 2000, OLAP, SOAP, C and C++ , ARM, CAN would be an advantage. Prior experience of working within a 1st and 2nd line support role in a technical environment would be advantageous.
You will need to be able to demonstrate your understanding of client needs, customer service skills and your ability to prioritise workloads. Time management as well as an ability to display a pro active approach and be able to work effectively within a team are essential for this role.

Test Engineer (Cambridge)
The test engineer will report directly to the Test Team Leader. The Test Engineer will be required to exercise a range of complex systems and sub-systems.
ACIS' broad portfolio of products will challenge you with an interesting range of technologies, which includes information dissemination via WEB, WAP and SMS, in addition to databases, electronic displays, in-vehicle computer equipment and wireless communications.
As Test Engineer you will be required to assist with the development of test strategies and plans along with setting up repeatable test environments and the executing of the test plans. As Test Engineer you will be able to produce test reports, detailing the test results, as well as being able to test a range of products including, telephone voice servers, central server based applications and firmware products.
Our Test Engineer will be responsible for exposing products to field trials on live customer sites, including, planning the trial, generating a field trial plan and reporting on outcomes. As Test Engineer you will be required to adopt an end-user mindset to test for quality and customer usability, work to agreed deadlines, be consistent and concise in reporting results.
The Test Engineer will be self managing and must be able to prioritise tasks and have exceptional communication skills. You will be working in a team environment and must be confident in challenging existing models and seeking ways to enhance the test process.
You will be educated to degree level in engineering or similar discipline with experience of working in a professional testing environment.
A basic understanding of sockets and TCP/IP protocols is desirable.
You may occasionally be required to travel to remote customer/other ACIS sites, typically within the UK. A driving licence is essential for this role.

Software Developer (Transportation Systems) Cambridge
The Software Developer will report directly to the Infrastructure Product Manager. The Software Developer will be technically responsible for the design and development of a novel database and the high-speed adaptor into that database.
As Software Developer you will need to ensure the quality and technical aspects are developed to the highest standard possible together with any required 3rd line support.
The Software Developer will assist in requirements gathering, release authority based on test and field trials and enabling release of products and components into Product Support. You will be responsible for the technical interface to third party product manufacturers and the evaluation of third party platforms. You will work closely with Product Managers, Team Leaders and third parties. You will need to ensure product documentation is written and assist Development Support Engineers in fault analysis and product reviews.
We require our Software Developer to be educated to degree level in computer science or electronics, or other similar relevant discipline. You will have experience in Windows 2000, XP and Linux with knowledge and experience of object oriented language: Java, C++ and C#. Experience with sockets, TCP/IP, UDP and other networking technologies is essential.
As Software Developer you will be familiar with the development process and product life cycle. You will be working in a high-pressured environment, meeting tight deadlines with a desire to learn new technologies, techniques and skills. Proven organisational and work prioritisation skills are essential as well as being able to make decisions and respond to new initiatives and directions.

The Software Analyst will need to ensure the delivery of milestones are met along with progress reporting covering pieces of work.
We require our Software Analyst to be educated to degree level in computer science or electronics, or other similar relevant discipline. Experience with sockets TCP/IP and UDP and other networking technologies is desirable as well as object orientated design UML. You will have a desire to learn new technologies, techniques and skills.

Software Developer (VB6/C#/ .Net)

The Software Developer will report directly to the Product Manager. The Software Developer will develop new and maintain existing software products as well as ensuring the design, quality and technical aspects are developed to the highest standards.
As Software Developer you will be assisting with the design of software products and components along with the development and the releasing of these products and components into product support.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of existing products and the technical interface to third party product manufactures. We require our Software Developer to be educated to degree level in computer science or electronics, or other similar relevant discipline. You will have experience with windows 2000, 2003 and XP. Proven experience in software development in VB6, and VB.NET along with experience of administering and developing for Microsoft SQL server 2000 is essential.
As Software Developer you will have experience of developing web applications and object orientated design and development. You will be working in a high-pressured environment, meeting tight deadlines. You will be familiar with the development process and product life cycles with a desire to learn new technologies, techniques and skills.

This vacancy has arisen due to the relocation of offices and will form part of a new team being introduced to our Cambridge office. The candidate will participate in the receiving of skills and knowledge transferred from the existing developer. The skill and knowledge transfer will take place in Newbury, Berkshire. Therefore, the candidate will be required to travel to the Newbury site when required.
